The Ups and Downs of Life

Well a lot has happened since my last post.  We have added a family member, found out a new family member will be here in February, and are losing a loved one.

Added Family Member:  My brother got married on Friday, July 13th to a wonderful young lady with a wonderful family.  We headed to Canada for the wedding as she is Canadian.  It was held on a horse farm and in the country and a Beautiful location!

(Mr. & Mrs. Nate Happer)

New Family Member:  Jonah (my nephew) is going to be a big brother in February to Twins!  Boy is Grandma and Grandpa going to busy next year.  Very excited for all the kids to grow up together.

Losing a loved One:  My Grandma Flo passed away this past Friday and we traveled back to Kansas for her furneral yesterday.  Grandma Flo was quite the lady.  She raised 6 kids and was a Nurse for many, many years.  She love classic movies but refused to get a VCR let alone a DVD player.  The most modern item in  her house was the cordless phone (once the telephone company made her get rid of the rotary dial phone) and the flat screen TV she had to get when her old TV in a box went out and couldn't be fixed.  Grandma was passionate about her political options. If you wanted to get Grandma worked up, just ask her about the current politics!  When you left Grandma's house she would always give you a hug and a firm Love Pat on the hinny.  Grandma you sure are love and will dearly be missed.

Now for a Baby Boy Update:  He moves and it is wonderful feeling!  It is a daily reminder of the love that Adam and I share.  Not to mention it helps me know that he is still growing!  I think he must be on a growth spurt as I am hungry all the time. I am trying to keep the eating down as I want to stay healthy.  It is very encouraging to me when people tell me I look great.  It makes me feel better about how big I am getting.

(This picture is a couple of weeks late.  We are now in week 24!)

Ice Cream!

This week (Week 20) while at the grocery story some how ice cream made it into the cart.  I have found that a list is a must right now otherwise random items get added to the cart that we really do not need.  Well this week I did really great not straying from the list till the end and saw that ice cream was on sale.  Up till this week I really had no desire to eat ice cream which for me is weird.  I love ice cream, frozen yogurt, frozen custard, and so on.  If it looks like ice cream it LOVE it!  I am not sure if it is good that ice cream is back in my diet but I will just have to remember to moderate!

I have also found that my belly seems to be growing more and more everyday.  I have started to feel Baby Boy moving and that is an odd but exciting feeling.  I can't wait for Adam to feel him kick.

We also started our registries at Target and Babies-R-Us.  Their is a lot of stuff to chose from but I guess a baby needs a lot of stuff.  Researching what the "best" items are is the most overwhelming part.  Everyone seems to have an option about everything!

We also had our 20 week sonogram on Tuesday.  It is always fun to see the baby and of course he had his arms up by his head again!  She was able to confirm what Aunt Jinny saw and he is really a he.  We have had two sonograms that are pretty indisputable!  We will have to wait till the next doctor's appointment to find out the results but everything seemed to be ok.

Next week at this time we will have a international traveler on our hands as we are heading to Canada for by brother's wedding.  He will be getting married outside of Toronto on Friday the 13th!  We will be meeting up with 4 generations of my family which is always and exciting time.

Here is a snick peek at a little project I am working on for Baby Boy!

19 weeks 6 days

One more day and we will be halfway to meeting our precious baby boy!  We are very excited but have a lot to do still! We decided on vintage sports for his room.  This will allow for some K-State stuff to be used like his dad wanted!  Now to get to painting, buying furniture, and decorating. If anyone has vintage baseball, football, or golf items that would like to donate please send them our way.  (Sorry no KU stuff ;) ).

We have been blessed to have some good friends with twin boys that have given us a whole bag of clothes for the little man and I am sure as their boys grow more will come our way.  We are working on Registering for Baby G at Target and Baby-R-Us but haven't had much of a chance yet to go to either store.  Keep checking back for more items to be added as we have time.

Not to much excitement around here the past couple of weeks.  The tummy is growing and the baby is healthy and that is how we like it!

3 VS 3

It's a BOY!  With the future arrival of our new bundle of joy the girl/boy ratio in the Graebner House is now even!  Adam is very excited to have a little boy to teach golf to and all about K-State Football!  It was hard to keep the secret for a week but I did pretty good.  Aunt Jinny and Aunt Katie threw us a pretty awesome "Sex Revel Party" last night to tell all our family and close friends.  We had a lot of fun and everyone is excited for a new boy in the family!  Mason (Baby G's almost 5 year old Cousin) is already making a list of things he wants to teach him!

Boy or Girl?!?

Today we headed north to Austin to visit Aunt Jinny and Uncle Carrie to find out the sex of  Baby G.  Aunt Jinny is a sonographer and wanted to be the one to tell us the sex.  She set us up an appointment at the Pregnancy Spa she worked at for a bit when she moved back to Austin last year.  The room was set up so much better then the doctor's office.  Cozy room, TV on the wall to let mom see the baby, lights dimmed, couch for Dad.  It was perfect! Baby G was moving it's arms a lot and we got to see the baby in 3D which is a pretty neat thing.  We saw the heart, spine, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, lungs and kidneys!  It was fun having Aunt Jinny be the one to point everything out!  I like to ask questions about everything that is going on and it was nice to have someone willing to take the time to answer them.  I have found that I want to know all I can about me and the baby and the changes that are taking place.

So is Baby G a Boy or a Girl?

Well you will just have to wait till next Saturday to find out! We are having a sex revel party for family and close friends and to make Father's Day just that more special for the Grandpa's (and Grandma's too).

Week 15

Well week 15 is over.  I can't believe it has already been 15 weeks!  By this time next week we will know if the baby is a girl or a boy but you all will have to wait til Fathers day to find out!  I have started to feel better at night and not be so tired all the time.  I feel like I can actually get something done when I get home from work now.  I guess it is really time to start thinking about all things baby and really plan for when our little bundle of joy get here!

Beach Bound!

Yesterday was the 26th Annual Sandcastle competition  in Galveston.  Again this year, my company had a team compete and it looked pretty good by the end.
Our Theme!

Final Product!
It was a nice day to be at the beach.  It was warm but with a cool breeze and plenty of shade!
